Studies in Australian History – Week Eight

8 September, 2013

It’s been a busy week this week – the car needed repairs and took far longer than expected, so Monday was pretty much a write-off.

Tuesday’s history lesson was playing Rum Rebellion (another op shop find).

We’ve also been reading more of The Journal of Watkin Stench. The chapters are short, which means we can get through a chapter without too much hassle.

I had thought that Rum and Rebellion would be the last chapter of Our Sunburnt Country that we’d get through this term but we should be able to get through another chapter before the end of term. Anything that gives us more flexibility in the coming term (and for next year) is a good thing. ūüôā

So on we went, to learn about George Bass and Matthew Flinders. When we read about how small the Tom Thumb was, we made our own “boat” where the kids sat while I read.
