While we do read a lot in the household (as I turn around I can see two children reading and know that a third is reading in her room… and the fourth is asleep) this post is not about our home story times, but about a special story time at a local library.

Author Penny Reeve (a parent at the school where Mum is a teacher) held a story time at a local library last week.

Penny read some of her books.

She provided a craft activity.

Yes, that is Josiah in the background throwing a huge teddy.  He spent the entire time trying to knock books of shelves, pulling books off shelves or (thankfully) playing with the enormous soft toys the library has in the children’s area.

Penny also played games and taught the children a rhyme about how much God loves them.

As you can see from the photo, our children made up a fair proportion of the “crowd”.  I think there were nine children in total (not all are in the photo)… four of them mine :-).

It was nice to go and support a local, Christian author.  We bought a stack of her books – some for little kids and a few novels for the older ones.

It was a great morning, Liz, and your kids (all of them) were a pleasure to share my stories with! Thanks for coming along and filling my ‘crowd’. 🙂

Great to see Penny doing these story times. Very encouraging to see authors getting out there with their books. – Catherine Mackenzie, Children’s Editor, Christian Focus Publications
