The Hero of Little Street by Gregory Rogers

2 March, 2011

Gregory Rogers is an Australian author/illustrator who has written a series of three wordless books called the Boy-Bear series.  The Hero of Little Street is actually the third in the series, but I hope to have some information up soon about the first two in the series.

The Hero of Little Street is based both on characters from the previous books and the painting The Little Street by Johannes Vermeer.  Other paintings featured in the book are A Lady Seated At A Virginal also by Vermeer and Arnolfini Portrait by Jan Van Eyck.

I’ve made some worksheets, that we used for our study of this book.

Also, the publishers, Allen and Unwin have a PDF excerpt of the book and Teacher’s notes, including lesson plan ideas.

The Hero of Little Street is also part of the NSW Premier’s Reading Challenge.
